Sexuality And Lifestyle Issues Surrounding Menopause

Multiple sexuality and lifestyle issues exist surrounding menopause and rarely discussed at a 10-minute "annual exam" or consultation.

Loss of sexual desire, vaginal dryness, blunted orgasms or a disparity in desire between partners is not infrequently encountered at this time.

Few things in life are fun and free – sex is one.  Dr. Goodman is interested and trained in Sexual Medicine and is comfotable working with sexual issues with his patients and their partners.  Understanding, counseling, "permission", specific suggestions and frequently hormones are utilized in therapy.

Recent Professional Activities

Dr. Goodman was recently an invited speaker at the Annual Meeting of the California Dantal Associan in Sacramento, leading a seminar on Menopausal Issues, Midlife Issues, Sexuality and Bioidentical Hormones  (February 19, 2009) at the Sacramento Convention Center.

Dr. Goodman is an "Invited Guest" at the "1st Annual World Congress of the International Society of Cosmetogynecology" at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery meetings in January, 2008 in Orlando, FL

The International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health will hold its 2008 annual meeting in San Diego in February.  Dr. Goodman has been appointed as a reviewer and will attend the Meetings.  Although unable to attend, Dr. Goodman was selected as a reviewer for the 2009 meeting in Florence, Italy.

Dr. Goodman was the senior author of two recently published peer-reviewed menical journal articles, "Is Elective Plastic Surgery Ever Warranted, and What Screening Should be Conducted Preoperatively," published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine,  (2007;4:269-276) and  "Female Cosmetic Genital Surgery," published in the journal, Obstetrics and Gynecology (2009;113: 156-159). 

The first chapter in a U. S. textbook on female genital aesthetic surgery, "Female Genital Plastic Surgery"  authored by Dr. Goodman, will be published in the new text, "Female Reproductive and Sexual Medicine" due out Fall, 2009.  

Dr. Goodman is the Principal Investigator and senior investigator of a large study of Female Genital Plastic Surgery from 10 centers in 8 states, due to be published in Fall, 2009.
